para selecionar a permissão inicial do arquivo quando um arquivo é recentemente
criados.
Especificamente, permissões na umask são desligadas a partir
do argumento \fBmode\fR para

(como, por exemplo, o valor padrão comum para umask de valor 022 resulta em novo arquivo criado com permissões 0666 & ~022 = 0644 = rw-r--r-
no caso usual \fBmodo\fR especificado é 0666).
