\fBunlinkat\fP()  システムコールは、この man ページで説明している違いがある以外は、 (\fIflags\fP に
\fBAT_REMOVEDIR\fP フラグが含まれるか否かにより)  \fBunlink\fP(2)  または \fBrmdir\fP(2)
と全く同じように動作する。

\fIpathname\fP で指定されるパス名が相対パス名である場合、 ファイルディスクリプタ \fIdirfd\fP
で参照されるディレクトリからの相対パス名として解釈される (\fBunlink\fP(2)  または \fBrmdir\fP(2)
では、相対パスは呼び出し元プロセスの カレントワーキングディレクトリからの相対パスとなる)。

\fIpathname\fP で指定されるパス名が相対パス名であり、かつ \fIdirfd\fP が特別な値 \fBAT_FDCWD\fP である場合、
\fIpathname\fP は (\fBunlink\fP(2)  または \fBrmdir\fP(2)  と同じように) 呼び出し元プロセスの
カレントワーキングディレクトリからの相対パス名として解釈される。

\fIpathname\fP で指定されるパス名が絶対パス名である場合、 \fIdirfd\fP は無視される。

\fIflags\fP はビットマスクであり、0 または \fBunlinkat\fP()  の操作を制御するフラグ値の OR を指定できる。 現在のところ 1
つのフラグだけが定義されている:

デフォルトでは、 \fBunlinkat\fP()  は \fIpathname\fP に対して \fBunlink\fP(2)  と同じ操作を行う。
\fBAT_REMOVEDIR\fP フラグが指定されると、 \fIpathname\fP に対して \fBrmdir\fP(2)  と同じ操作を行う。

成功した場合、 \fBunlinkat\fP()  は 0 を返す。 エラーの場合、\-1 が返されて、 \fIerrno\fP にはエラーを示す値が設定される。

\fBunlink\fP(2)  または \fBrmdir\fP(2)  と同じエラーが \fBunlinkat\fP()  でも起こる。 \fBunlinkat\fP()
では、その他に以下のエラーが起こる:
