Het doel van het project po4a (\s-1PO\s0 voor alles) is om de vertaalwerkzaamheden (en interessanter nog, het onderhoud van vertalingen) te vergemakkelijken met behulp van gettext-hulpmiddelen in domeinen waarin deze niet meteen verwacht worden, zoals documentatie.

Locale::Po4a::Wml is een module ter ondersteuning van de vertaling van WML-documenten naar andere [menselijke] talen. Verwar \s-1WML,\s0 (mark-uptaal voor het web) waarover we het hier hebben, niet met de WAP-onzin die op mobiele telefoons gebruikt wordt.

Merk op dat deze module steunt op de module Locale::Po4a::Xhtml module, die ook steunt op de module Locale::Po4a::Xml. Dit betekent dat wordt aangenomen dat alle tags voor webpagina-expressies geschreven zijn in de XHTML-syntaxis.

Deze module werkt voor eenvoudige documenten, maar is nog jong. Momenteel is het grootste probleem van deze module wellicht dat ze niet overweg kan met documenten die in de tekst geïntegreerde niet-XML-tags bevatten, zoals <email \*(L"foo@example.org\*(R">, wat vaak voorkomt in \s-1WML.\s0 In toekomstige releases zullen verbeteringen aangebracht worden.
