這個過程建立叫做 \fIw \fR的一個選項選單按鈕，並加上一個相關聯的選單。它們在一起允許使用者選擇用 \fIvalue\fR 引數給出的值中的一個。當前值被儲存在用 \fIvarName\fR 給出名字的全域性變數中，並且還將被顯示為選項選單按鈕中的標籤。使用者可以點選選單按鈕來顯示一個包括所有 \fIvalue \fR的選單並接著選擇一個新值。一旦選擇了一個新值，則把它儲存在這個變數中並在選項選單按鈕中出現。還可以透過設定這個變數來改變當前值。
