.\" Hey, EMACS: -*- nroff -*- .TH GENERIC "1" "April 2023" "IRAF 2.17.1" "IRAF commands" .SH NAME mkiraf \- Setup the IRAF environment for a user .SH SYNOPSIS mkiraf [\fB\-d\fR|\fB\-\-default\fR] [\fB\-i\fR|\fB\-\-init\fR] [\fB\-n\fR|\fB\-\-noinit\fR] [\fB\-c\fR|\fB\-\-copy\fR] [\fB\-q\fR|\fB\-\-quiet\fR] .SH DESCRIPTION Creates the parameter directory, image directory and cache directory for the use with IRAF CL, and optionally create a local copy of the IRAF CL startup file \fIlogin.cl\fR. Within IRAF CL, these directory have the names \fIuparm$\fR, \fIimdir$\fR, and \fIcache$\fR. Without the \fB-d\fR|\fB--default\fR flag, the parameter directory \fIuparm\fR is created in the local directory, triggering a parameter storage locally. If no local parameter directory exists, a general user specific parameter storage in \fI${HOME}/.iraf/uparm\fR is used. The image directory \fIimdir\fR and the cache directory \fIcache\fR are always created in \fI${HOME}/.iraf/\fR. .SH OPTIONS .TP .B \-d, \-\-default Create the \fIupar\fR file in the user specific directory \fI${HOME}/.iraf\fR instead of the local directory. .TP .B \-i, \-\-init Initialize an empty uparm directory, removing old parameter settings. If neither the \fB\-i\fR|\fB\-\-init\fR nor the \fB\-n\fR|\fB\-\-noinit\fR is given, the command asks whether the \fIupar\fR directory should be initialized. .TP .B \-n, \-\-noinit Do not nitialize the uparm directory if it exists, keeping old parameter settings. If neither the \fB\-i\fR|\fB\-\-init\fR nor the \fB\-n\fR|\fB\-\-noinit\fR is given, the command asks whether the \fIupar\fR directory should be initialized. .TP .B \-c, \-\-copy Create a copy of the \fIlogin.cl\fR file in the local directory, or (if the \fB-d\fR|\fB--default\fR flag was given), in the directory \fI${HOME}/.iraf\fR. These copies are only needed if local changes shall be applied. .TP .B \-q, \-\-quiet Suppress output messages .SH BUGS IRAF should use XDG conform user directories in \fI${HOME}/.cache\fR, \fI${HOME}/.local\fR and \fI${HOME}/.config\fR. .SH SEE ALSO .BR ecl (1), .SH AUTHOR Created by Ole Streicher for the IRAF community
