Chaque processus a un masque de priorité déterminant quels appels à
\fBsyslog\fP(3) seront effectivement journalisés. Les autres appels seront
ignorés. La journalisation est activée pour les priorités ayant un bit
correspondant dans le \fImasque\fP. Le masque initial valide toutes les
priorités.

La fonction \fBsetlogmask\fP() définit le masque des priorités pour le
processus appelant et renvoie le masque précédent. Si l'argument masque est
0, le masque en cours n'est pas modifié.

Les huit priorités sont \fBLOG_EMERG\fP, \fBLOG_ALERT\fP, \fBLOG_CRIT\fP, \fBLOG_ERR\fP,
\fBLOG_WARNING\fP, \fBLOG_NOTICE\fP, \fBLOG_INFO\fP et \fBLOG_DEBUG\fP. Le bit
correspondant à la priorité \fIp\fP est \fILOG_MASK\fP(p). Certains systèmes
fournissent aussi une macro \fILOG_UPTO\fP(p) pour le masque de toutes les
priorités jusqu'à \fIp\fP incluses.
