.SH BESCHREIBUNG
\fBrunlevel\fP liest die \fIutmp\fP\-Datei des Systems (typischerweise
\fI/var/run/utmp\fP), um den Runlevel zu ermitteln und dann den vorherigen und
aktuellen Runlevel, durch ein einzelnes Leerzeichen getrennt, in die
Standardausgabe zu schreiben. Gibt es keinen vorherigen Runlevel, wird
stattdessen der Buchstabe \fBN\fP ausgegeben.

Falls keine \fIutmp\fP\-Datei existiert und kein Runlevel in der Datei
\fI/var/run/runlevel\fP vermerkt ist, gibt \fBrunlevel\fP das Wort \fBunknown\fP aus
und beendet sich mit einem Fehler.

\fBrunlevel\fP kann in \fIrc\fP\-Skripten als Ersatz für den System\-V\-Befehl \fBwho \-r\fP verwendet werden. Allerdings steht diese Information in neueren
Versionen von \fBinit\fP(8) in den Umgebungsvariablen \fBRUNLEVEL\fP und
\fBPREVLEVEL\fP zur Verfügung.
