This subcommand is a combination of \fIcontainers-storage create-layer\fP and
\fIcontainers-storage apply-diff\fP\&.

.PP
When a layer is first created with \fIcontainers-storage create-layer\fP, it
contains no changes relative to its parent layer.
The layer can either be mounted read-write and its contents modified
directly, or contents can be added (or removed) by applying a layer diff
by running \fIcontainers-storage apply-diff\fP\&.

.SH OPTIONS

\fB-n\fP \fIname\fP

Sets an optional name for the layer. If a name is already in use, an error is
returned.

\fB-i | --id\fP \fIID\fP

.PP
Sets the ID for the layer. If none is specified, one is generated.

\fB-f | --file\fP \fIfilename\fP

Specifies the name of a file from which the diff should be read. If this
option is not used, the diff is read from standard input.

\fB-l | --label\fP \fImount-label\fP

Sets the label which should be assigned as an SELinux context when mounting the
layer.

\fB-r | --readonly\fP

Mark the layer as readonly.

UID map specified in the format expected by \fIsubuid\fP\&. It cannot be specified simultaneously with \fI--hostuidmap\fP\&.

GID map specified in the format expected by \fIsubgid\fP\&. It cannot be specified simultaneously with \fI--hostuidmap\fP\&.

Force host UID map. It cannot be specified simultaneously with neither \fI--uidmap\fP nor \fI--subuidmap\fP\&.
