Disks provides a way to inspect, format, partition and configure disks and block devices\&. .PP The Disks application is \fIsingle\-instance\fR\&. What this means is that if the application is not already running when the \fBgnome\-disks\fR command is invoked, it will get launched and the command invocation will block until the application exits\&. Otherwise the existing application instance will be used and the \fBgnome\-disks\fR command will exit immediately\&. .SH "OPTIONS" .PP The following options are understood: .PP \fB\-\-block\-device \fR\fB\fIDEVICE\fR\fR .RS 4 Switches to the Disks application and selects the block device given by \fIDEVICE\fR (for example, /dev/sda)\&. .RE .PP \fB\-\-block\-device \fR\fB\fIDEVICE\fR\fR \fB\-\-format\-device\fR [\fB\-\-xid \fR\fB\fIWINDOW\-ID\fR\fR] .RS 4 Shows the \(lqFormat Volume\(rq dialog for the block device given by \fIDEVICE\fR (for example, /dev/sdb1)\&.
